Larry O’Bryan Establishes Endowment Fund for Young Men to Attend St. Xavier High School

Lawrence J. O’Bryan, CEO at TPC-KY, Inc., knows a thing or two about the importance of a good education. Born in 1959 to a poor family, his life is a true rags to riches tale. The esteemed businessman attributes much of his success to his education at prestigious schools like St. Xavier High School. In order to give other young men the opportunity to attend the high school and establish a solid foundation for their future, he founded The Lawrence J. O’Bryan Endowment Fund.

The endowment and scholarship fund provides tuition assistance to young men who wish to receive a Xaverian Brothers education. The award is based on family need. Students with an interest in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or government receive priority consideration.Lawrence J O'Bryan

In addition to owning one of the nation’s most prominent label manufacturing companies, Lawrence J. O’Bryan founded Pro-Active Media and was for many years one of Kentucky’s most respected political media consultants. Among other achievements, Larry O’Bryan led the successful Democratic effort to defeat four-term Republican incumbent State Senator Elizabeth Tori representing Hardin and Jefferson Counties. In 2012, he also provided the winning media for Court of Appeals Judge Irv Maze and Circuit Judge Angela Bisig.

In addition to St. Xavier’s, Larry O’Bryan said his parents were a significant part of his achievements.

His father did not have the opportunity to attend school past seventh grade, while his mother was not educated beyond high school. The couple overcame adversity, however, and built a stable life for themselves and their five children through buying, renovating, and renting old homes. Eventually, O’Bryan’s parents sold the properties in the 1980s and financed the loans themselves, paying the kids to work in the apartments instead of giving them an allowance. Although money was tight, O’Bryan’s parents paid for all of their children to attend private Catholic schools and college.

“I know this education and the commitment my parents made for us is a major reason for my successes in life,” Larry O’Bryan said.

It is also a significant motivation for Larry O’Bryan’s commitment to giving back to his community. In addition to the St. Xavier High School scholarship, he regularly donates to causes including the Salvation Army for Hurricane Relief, VG Reed Needy Family Fund, Hearts in Motion, and Home of the Innocents, among others.

TPC-KY Founder Larry O’Bryan Credits His Parents For His Motivation To Give Back To His Community

Lawrence J. O’Bryan has always believed in the power of giving back. He gives credit to his parents for instilling him with his sense of generosity and responsibility. And he has spent a lifetime putting those lessons to work.

Larry O’Bryan is the CEO and owner of TPC-KY, Inc., an award-winning company that supplies labels for major manufacturers including GE Appliances and Black & Decker. This company is Larry O’Bryan’s most recent success in a prolific career that spans four decades. He previously found success as a real estate renovator at O’Bryan Properties before establishing himself as the most successful political media strategist in Kentucky at Pro-Active Media.

Through his current company, Lawrence J. O’Bryan offers services that improve workplace productivity for his clients. He strives to create a more efficient and better workforce for everyone and he utilizes his company’s resources to give back to the community through job opportunities that provide superior benefits for his employees. But Larry’s company is not the only way that he expresses his generosity.

Larry’s mother, Ramona, and father, Charles, made many sacrifices for him during his childhood. Both passed away in the mid-2000s, a year apart, but the sacrifices they made for their son continue to inspire him. “It’s a major reason I have given back,” says Larry.

Larry O’Bryan established an endowment at St. Xavier High School to assist young men who cannot otherwise afford to attend the prestigious all-male college preparatory school. As the sole donor to this endowment, Larry believes that his contributions will allow other young men to receive a quality education that could change their lives.

Acts of kindness such as this reflect the sacrifices that Larry saw his parents making for him and his siblings. Larry’s parents did not grow up wealthy, but each worked diligently to ensure that Larry and his siblings would have a better life and a quality education. In fact, as they achieved a level of success from renovating houses in the Louisville area, a large percentage of their earnings went to their children’s education. They believed that giving this opportunity to their children would pay dividends in their future.

Now, Larry O’Bryan wants to continue the legacy that his parents began by helping others as much as possible.

Another example of the impact that Larry’s parents made in his life can be seen in the charities and organizations to which Larry contributes. Larry’s father, Charles O’Bryan, fought in France and Germany during World War II, which motivated Larry to make regular donations to the Salvation Army. “We just donated to the Salvation Army for hurricane relief,” Larry O’Bryan said. “I also donate to Catholic Charities every year because that was my mother’s favorite charity.”

Larry O’Bryan supports his community with the company he owns and with the products he makes. But he also makes a tremendous impact on a personal level by making regular contributions to worthwhile charities and organizations in hopes that he can motivate others in the same way his parents inspired him.

Larry O’Bryan Expands TPC-KY And Sees Record Growth In 2019

The owner and CEO of TPC-KY, Larry O’Bryan, recently expanded the workforce at his label manufacturing facility.

In 2019, Larry O’Bryan saw the continued growth of his company as a chance to create additional jobs at TPC-KY, Inc. TPC-KY is a full-service supplier of labels, forms and barcodes located in Louisville, Kentucky. While they sell their products to many international companies, O’Bryan always strives to support local businesses and to provide employment opportunities for surrounding communities.

Larry understands the value of providing people a chance to better themselves. O’Bryan’s parents grew up poor, but he saw that their hard work and dedication allowed him and his siblings to have a better life. Larry’s parents invested their money toward their childrens’ education. His mother and father wanted to expand the minds and job opportunities of Larry and his siblings. And now Larry wants to pay it forward and provide other hard working individuals the opportunity to improve their lives and their futures.

TPC-KY has seen record growth in each of the last five years and that growth means an expanded workforce. And, as the company expands, O’Bryan understands that it provides opportunities for motivated individuals to create a better future. O’Bryan and TPC-KY have always supported diversity in their hiring practices and their recent expansion continued this pattern. Minorities currently account for 60% of the TPC-KY labor force.

One of O’Bryan’s business goals is to continually find ways to empower his community and the workforce. TPC-KY has continued to invest in its employees by offering high-end healthcare options at a cost that the employees can afford. This means that O’Bryan’s company must absorbi most of the growing cost of healthcare, but Larry believes that it is worth it to provide excellent benefits to his workforce. O’Bryan has also implemented profit sharing and a 401k retirement plan at TPC-KY with the company making contributions to each employee’s retirement even if the employees are unable to do so themselves.

Today, Larry carries on his parents’ commitment to bettering the lives of others. Growth and expansion at TPC-KY has brought new jobs and with those jobs come new possibilities for people in the surrounding communities.

Larry O’Bryan is dedicated to building a better community and to rewarding the efforts of his employees. He continues to focus on creating new jobs with world-class benefits so everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Larry O’Bryan Of TPC-KY, Inc. Invest In New Technology To Improve Workplace Productivity

Larry O’Bryan is the CEO and owner of TPC-KY Inc., in Louisville. Larry O’Bryan grew up in Louisville, KY watching his parents transform old homes into livable apartments and their work ethic has had a lasting impact on his life. Together, O’Bryan’s parents increased the property values in once marginal neighborhoods and through their efforts, Larry saw how hard work and dedication can change lives.

Larry O’Bryan attributes much of his appreciation for business to his parents. It was their work ethic and steadfast dedication to developing homes that stayed with him over the years. As an adult, Larry adopted his parents’ entrepreneurial spirit and started his own company, O’Bryan Properties, where he renovated dilapidated, older properties in the Louisville, KY area. He became a successful real estate renovator and through this experience, he gained the knowledge and skills that he would later utilize as he pursued other business opportunities.

Larry would also become a part-owner of multiple Papa John’s pizza franchises, but greater success would follow as O’Bryan launched another new business, Pro-Active Media. Pro-Active Media was founded as a political media consulting business, and Larry would guide it to become highly successful with over 300 political campaigns under his belt, including local, state, & national political races. During his time at Pro-Active Media, O’Bryan became the most successful political media consultant and strategist in Kentucky.

Larry O’Bryan’s success in his previous endeavors eventually led him to invest in another business in 2006, when he acquired TPC-KY, Inc. TPC-KY is a major label manufacturer and supplier in Louisville, KY with a robust customer base that includes GE Appliances, Haier Appliances, Black & Decker and Thornton’s, Inc.

Despite being in a different industry than his parents, Larry still implements their childhood lessons – work hard and value quality and productivity.

Since his acquisition of TPC-KY, Larry O’Bryan has continued to invest in technology that will bring value to all of his clients. Under his ownership, TPC-KY has developed custom barcode printing software and an appliance model database management system for all of GE Appliances’ North American facilities. Larry O’Bryan has also invested in custom software to generate the GE Appliances QR code genealogy tracking labels. And, in 2019, Larry purchased additional laser printing equipment to ensure that TPC-KY is in a position to accommodate the continued growth and expansion at GE and Haier Appliances.

When asked about his latest tech investments, O’Bryan responded that “It was a no-brainer and it gives us a competitive edge with all of our clients.”

As businesses strive to compete in a constantly changing work environment, it is essential to utilize and implement modern technologies to improve production and efficiency, and Larry O’Bryan embraces this challenge.

During his lifetime, Larry O’Bryan has retained the essence of his parents’ work ethic and incorporated it into each of his business opportunities at O’Bryan Properties, Pro-Active Media and TPC-KY, Inc.

O’Bryan’s goal is to create tangible and sustainable opportunities for his employees and himself by following his parents’ model of hard work, persistence and dedication.

Larry O’Bryan of TPC-KY, Inc. Is A Pioneer Once Again For GE Appliances With The QR Code Genealogy Tracking

Larry O’Bryan is the CEO of TPC-KY and the provider of the QR Code Genealogy Tracking for GE Appliances.

This news is exciting, but it is not the first time O’Bryan and his team have provided a program for GE Appliances.

Larry O'Bryan 3TPC-KY is a major label manufacturer and supplier in Louisville, KY. The company invests in select technologies to help improve efficiencies and growing investments.

In 1989, TPC-KY Inc. helped pioneer the “barcode age” at GE Appliances. Larry O’Bryan and TPC-KY made custom-designed assembly forms. Each was printed on high-quality laser printers. At the time, the technology and process streamlined the production of GE appliances.

Today, TPC-KY’s Larry O’Bryan continues to push the limits of new technologies. He is always looking to gain knowledge of processes that offer a high level of effectiveness.

Recently, O’Bryan invested in custom computer software. It provides GE Appliances with QR code genealogy tracking in the US.

Larry O’Bryan had this to say said about his recent investment: “It was a no-brainer. In today’s fast-paced business environment, investing in technology can propel a company to the head of the pack.

O’Bryan recognizes the importance of technology and its role in remaining relevant.

“As a value-added supplier, TPC-KY is proud to offer data management, custom printing software, and advanced laser printing technology. All are still used at GE Appliances and by many of our other customers,” Larry O’Bryan said.

Although Quick Response Codes (QR Codes) have been around since 1994, its growth has been slow.

The QR code is approximately the size of a one-inch square. The system is a type of barcode that contains a pattern of dots and needs a QR scanner or smartphone to work.

The scan reveals the hidden information from inside the pattern of dots. The data can include links to websites, photos, maps, and more.

It’s been thirty years since the initial TPC-KY and GE Appliances barcode collaboration. Over the decades, much has changed in the world of technology.

Today, Larry O’Bryan and TPC-KY have the software for QR Code Genealogy Tracking. It is an emerging technology that will simplify and integrate manufacturing processes for GE.

With a quick scan, GE manufacturing line operators can instantly learn details about appliances. It will save the company time and money. It will also help improve safety and communication among workers.

Thirty years ago, Larry O’Bryan of TPC-KY was a true pioneer. With the QR Code Genealogy Tracking, it shows, even after all these years, he remains one, still to this day.

Lawrence J. O’Bryan was born in 1959 and raised on a farm in Kentucky by his parents. Both mother and father did not receive a significant amount of education in their youth. They are mainly self-taught individuals. Nonetheless, they made a commitment to make Larry’s life different from their own.

To his parents, education for Lawrence J. O’Bryan was essential.

Larry O'Bryan 20

In 1980, Larry O’Bryan’s parents worked hard, flipping houses. Their goal was to save up enough money so Larry could attend school and receive a proper education.

Thanks to his parents, Lawrence J. O’Bryan went to a prep school that ranked among the top 20 in the nation. After his time at St. Xavier High School, he went on to earn a degree in journalism from Western Kentucky University.

Today, Larry O’Bryan is the owner and CEO of TPC-KY, Inc., a label manufacturer in Louisville, Kentucky.

TPC-KY is the primary label supplier to GE Appliances in North America. The company is also a key partner to Black & Decker, Thornton’s, and other accounts.

Lawrence J. O’Bryan is also the founder of Pro-Active Media. That led him to a successful career as a political media consultant in Louisville, Ky.

O’Bryan attributes much of his success to his parent’s commitment to his education. And recently, Larry’s (and his parents’) many years of hard work have paid off.

Lawrence J. O’Bryan earned recognition at the GE Appliances President’s Council Summit.

The President’s Council Summit is a forum for company leaders. Owners share business objectives and recognize its top-performing suppliers with an award presentation.

This year, Lawrence J. O’Bryan became the recipient of the “Silent Warrior” award. An award that recognizes “outstanding national suppliers. Those who are the best in their field and seamlessly execute on a daily basis.”

Larry O’Bryan of TPC-KY, Inc. Continues to Invest in New Technologies, Acquires Custom Software to Provide GE Appliances with QR Code Genealogy Tracking

TPC-KY CEO Larry O’Bryan recently committed to new technologies by investing in custom computer software to provide one of his biggest clients, GE Appliances, with QR code genealogy tracking for all U.S. manufactured appliances.

TPC-KY, Inc., a major label manufacturer, and supplier, invests in select new technologies that show promise for improving its efficiencies and the growing company’s recent investment was a no-brainer, Larry O’Bryan said. In today’s fast-paced business environment, investing in technology can propel a company to the head of the pack, he added.

Larry O’Bryan, CEO of TPC-KY, understands that investment in new technologies will not only maintain his growing company’s relevance in the national marketplace but also help assure his current clients that TPC-KY is on the leading edge.

“As a value-added supplier, TPC-KY is proud to offer data management, custom printing software and advanced laser printing technology that is still being used by GE Appliances and many of our other customers,” Larry O’Bryan said.

Pioneering Bar Codes

In 1989, TPC helped pioneer the “barcode age” at GE Appliances by offering custom-designed assembly forms printed on high-quality laser printers to help streamline the production of GE appliances.

The multi-part forms combined up to six individual labels imprinted with bar-coded serial numbers and model numbers used to track production figures at GE’s appliance assembly plant and throughout their North American manufacturing facilities, vastly improving communication and efficiency, while contributing to increased profits.

TPC has enjoyed a solid business relationship with GE Appliances for three decades.

Larry O’Bryan and TPC-KY were honored earlier in 2019 at the annual GE Appliances President’s Council Summit (held in Louisville) with a “Silent Warrior” award, recognizing outstanding national “suppliers who are best in their field and seamlessly execute on a daily basis.”

QR Code Genealogy Tracking

QR (Quick Response) Codes have been around since 1994 – a year or so before the internet took off – although they took longer to gain a footing.

A QR code is a type of barcode that contains a matrix of dots. The QR code, usually about the size of a one-inch square or smaller, can be scanned using a QR scanner or with a smartphone that has a built-in camera, instantly revealing all kinds of information that links to websites, photos, maps and more.

In 2019, a full 30 years since its original collaboration with GE on barcoding, TPC-KY invested in QR Code Genealogy Tracking, an emerging technology that simplifies and integrates manufacturing processes. With a quick scan, operators on the manufacturing line can instantly learn details about an individual product, saving time and money, while improving safety and communication.

Larry O’Bryan Cites His Family’s Sacrifices and Commitment to Education for His Success, as He Expands His Business Profile in Kentucky

Larry O’Bryan wants you to know his story.

A longtime Kentucky political media consultant and strategist, Larry O’Bryan has diversified his professional pursuits in recent years to include a major labeling business, TPC-KY, Inc., to complement Pro-Active Media, a successful political consulting firm he founded.

Larry O'Bryan 2

But Larry O’Bryan reflects affectionately on his strong Catholic upbringing as a formative influence on his current interests.

Parents’ Hard Work and Sacrifice

Born in 1959, Larry O’Bryan grew up in the Highlands in Louisville, Kentucky. The Highlands once was a marginal neighborhood but is now a trendy upscale neighborhood. He learned a strict work ethic from his parents at an early age.

“My father never went to school past seventh grade; my mother finished high school, but they were pretty much self-taught'” O’Bryan said. “They were successful buying old homes in disrepair in marginal neighborhoods in Louisville and my father was the handyman who would turn them into apartments.”

Larry O’Bryan’s parents, Charles and Ramona, toiled tirelessly to help transform a hard-scrabble neighborhood into a popular community and property values escalated. “I worked at the properties with my siblings and that’s how I earned spending money,” O’Bryan said. “They never gave us spending money.”

An Emphasis on Education

Any money his frugal parents could squirrel away was allocated to education, Larry O’Bryan recalled, and he and all of his siblings attended Catholic grade schools and high schools. “I went to St. Xavier High School, an all-male private Catholic school” founded in 1864 in Louisville, O’Bryan said. “It is regularly ranked as one of the top 20 prep high schools in the nation.”

After high school, Larry O’Bryan attended and graduated from Western Kentucky University double major in government and journalism. “My parents made sure all five children went to college, too,” he added. “I know this education and the commitment my parents made for us is a major reason for my successes in life.”

Giving Back

The sacrifices of Charles and Ramona, who passed away in the mid-2000s a year apart, inspired their son. “It’s a major reason I have given back,” Larry O’Bryan said. Larry O’Bryan is the sole donor and has established an endowment at St. Xavier High School to assist young men who cannot otherwise afford to attend.

Larry O’Bryan said Charles’ military service in France and Germany during World War II motivated him to donate to the Salvation Army. “We just made a donation to the Salvation Army for hurricane relief,” Larry O’Bryan said. “I also donate to Catholic Charities every year because that was my mother’s favorite charity.”

Today, Larry O’Bryan dedicates much of his time to TPC-KY, Inc., which supplies labels for major manufacturers, including GE Appliances – TPC-KY recently won a Silent Warrior award from the GE President’s Council in recognition of its outstanding support for GE Appliances. TPC projects record growth in 2019. In addition, TPC-KY is a key partner with Black & Decker, Thornton’s and several other regional and national accounts.

Larry O’Bryan also founded Pro-Active Media, leading to a successful career as a political media consultant and strategist in Louisville, Ky. He helped defeat a four-term incumbent state senator in Jefferson County in 2010, along with claiming three judgeships.

O’Bryan delivered again in 2012, providing the winning media for two judges. O’Bryan also produced the aggressive television spots that secured state Sen. Perry Clark’s election against his much better-funded opponent.

As the first local political media consultant to produce and air political ads in hi-definition, Larry O’Bryan remains on the leading edge of campaign technology. O’Bryan began his career working in the 1980 Kentucky General Assembly during Gov. John Y. Brown’s administration and for the Kentucky Democratic Party in 1982.
